What more power changes in practice
In diode lasers, the output power is usually produced by combining multiple diodes. More power means greater cutting depth per pass and higher engraving speed. At high power and a fast feed rate, the cut edge is narrower and less charred than when making multiple slow passes at lower power.
Diode versus fiber laser
Diode lasers operate at around 455 nm and process organic materials as well as colored acrylic. They can engrave bare metal only with pretreatment. Fiber lasers operate at around 1064 nm, mark metal directly, and consequently have limitations with wood and clear acrylic. The two wavelengths require different safety glasses.
Extraction is not an accessory
Cutting at this power level produces dense smoke containing fine dust. Enclosed devices have an exhaust port or an activated-carbon filter. With open frames, you must arrange the exhaust routing yourself; otherwise, soot will settle on the lens and surrounding area.
Work area and securing the material
Check the usable area and whether a honeycomb bed is included. A rotary module is essential for cups and other round objects.
